Bayern Munich captain Manuel Neuer has admitted that it’s a shame Rentao Sanches is no longer at the club.
The Portuguese youngster left Bavaria after three years this summer in a €25m switch to Lille.
It was a frustrating few seasons for Sanches at the Allianz Arena – failing to establish himself in the first team and never fully realising his earlier potential.
But Neuer has praised his former teammate, for his off-field presence as well as his performances on it.
“I’ve contacted him personally again, he’s a great guy and I think it’s too bad he’s not with us anymore,” Neuer told reporters.
The Bundesliga champions opted not to pursue Espanyol midfielder Marc Roca as his replacement.
