Bayern Munich did their job and beat Mainz 05 comfortably in a 3-0 victory on matchday 31 of the Bundesliga. With 75 points, the Bavarians have all but secured the official title of German soccer for the 2024/25 season, but Bayer Leverkusen prevented Harry Kane from celebrating on Saturday.

Xabi Alonso's side reached 67 points and will keep the Bundesliga title race open for at least another week. Just 13 minutes into the first half, Leverkusen showed that they will keep fighting until the end with a quick attacking transition that ended in a goal, thanks to Wirtz's triangulation for Tella to play a first-time pass and find Patrick Schick, who got his foot to it with a firm shot from outside the area.

Still in the first half, Leverkusen created another fine team move and a ball that was poorly cleared by the defense ended up with Emiliano Buendia, who struck with enormous class and set the final score for the match, leaving Agusburg with a 2-0 defeat and Bayern Munich without the trophy.

Despite not winning the title this weekend, Bayern Munich overcame the scare they suffered from their opponents in the opening minutes and took control of the match. The first goal came in the 26th minute when Sané received a pass from Laimer in the box, dribbled past two defenders and struck low for another fine goal this season.

The score was extended in the 39th minute, when Olise controlled the ball on the right flank and pulled the ball back into the middle after breaking into the area, curling a low shot into the net with no chance of Zentner saving. Waiting for a possible complication from Leverkusen, Bayern continued to dominate the game in the second half at the Allianz Arena and didn't concede any real chances.

Before the final whistle, Eric Dier scored his first goal in a Bayern Munich shirt this season when he headed home Olise's corner kick from the edge of the box, a special moment in the celebration of Thomas Muller's 500th Bundesliga game.
