Bayern Munich will be looking to bounce back from mid-week DFB-Pokal disappointment this Saturday, when they take on Heidenheim for matchday 13 of the 24/25 Bundesliga season.
This feels like a particularly big game for Bayern. Whilst a draw at Borussia Dortmund is a credible result, with Frankfurt winning their game – the gap at the top of the Bundesliga is down to just four points. We have seen Bayer Leverkusen hit form again, too, and it is important to keep them at arm's length.
Vincent Kompany’s side will still be without Harry Kane, although the 38-year-old did say that things are going well regarding his injury recovery. They will also still be without Serge Gnabry, who missed the Pokal game. Meanwhile, Manuel Neuer will also miss the game with a rib injury. However, Kompany has confirmed Aleksandar Pavlović is available to start.
There will, as always, be a huge burden on Jamal Musiala. With the absence of Kane, the 21-year-old will be Bayern’s biggest goal threat, as well as the player expected to create chances for others. Die Roten could really do with other players stepping up and easing the burden on him.
As for Heidenheim, they are in a really difficult spot. Currently occupying 16th place, the relegation play-off spot, Frank Schmidt's team have only won two of their last ten games in all competitions, and have lost all of the last four.
Of course, in their team they have on-loan Bayern youngster Paul Wanner, who has scored twice, and provided an assist in 865 Bundesliga minutes so far this season. There is no doubt he will be desperate to prove to Bayern what he can do in this game.
