Bayern Munich will be facing Ukrainian side Dynamo Kyiv in Group E in the second gameweek of the UEFA Champions League. Bayern are currently at the top of the group after their convincing win against Barcelona while Dynamo Kyiv are level with Benfica as they played out a goalless draw in their first game of the Champions League group stage.

Bayern Munich began their Champions League campaign with a thumping win against Barcelona. Thomas Mueller scored the opener for Bayern and was followed by a brace by star striker Robert Lewandowski as they completed an easy win against the Spanish giants. Bayern Munich are in red hot form as they have now won eight consecutive matches in all competitions and have scored a staggering 40 goals in these eight matches.

Bayern Munich recorded the highest xG than any other team in the first gameweek of the Champions League. They scored three goals and had a total of 17 attempts on goal. Bayern looked the better side throughout the game as they continued creating chances to attack the opposition defence, while Barcelona failed to create any significant chances. The Bayern defenders had very little to do but did their job well as they did not allow the home side to keep even a single shot on target.

The above visual shows us the shot map for Bayern Munich in the game against Barcelona. Bayern Munich attempted 17 shots on goal and had 8 of those shots on target. They had a high shot on target percentage and also attempted 10 shots from inside the box. Two of their shots hit the post, but Robert Lewandowski always remained alert in the penalty area and scored both his goals from the rebound after the ball hit the post and fell in front of him.

Bayern are currently unbeaten in the Bundesliga and have won five of the six matches they have played so far while scoring 23 goals. Robert Lewandowski has been their go to man when they need someone to score goals and has scored seven goals in the Bundesliga so far and is joint top scorer with Erling Haaland.

Dynamo Kyiv earned a point when they faced Benfica in their first group stage match. Dynamo Kyiv did most of the defending in the match as their opponents had the better chances in the game to open scoring and were satisfied with the 0-0 scoreline after the final whistle.

While Benfica had more attempts on goal, both teams had the same shots on target. The xT timeline indicates that there were a few instances when the Ukrainian side created a threat for the Benfica defenders but failed to make most of these rare sights of goal.

Dynamo Kyiv are enjoying a successful start to their title defence in the Ukrainian Premier League as they are the only unbeaten side in the league and have also won their last five games. Viktor Tsygankov had been their top scorer in the league with seven goals and will look to create an impact for his team against Bayern.

Bayern have won 32 of their 34 home Champions League group stage matches, with their only defeat coming against Manchester City in 2013. They will be looking to maintain this record against Dynamo Kyiv who were a little shaky against Benfica.
