According to Sky’s Marc Behrenbeck, Bayern Munich are interested in signing Arminia Bielefeld goalkeeper Stefan Ortega.
The player’s agent, Jörg Neblung, confirmed the interest from the Bavarian side but gave no indication as to whether Ortega would be open to the move.
“I can only say Stefan is someone who likes to keep playing and continues to work on his career,” Neblung told Sky. “We’ll see whether he’s ready to sit down on the bench in any way. I think it’ll be a while before there’s any news.”
Despite his desire to be a starter, Ortega could accept a role on the bench with the defending Bundesliga champions.
“That’s not completely out of the question now, on the contrary,” said Behrenbeck. “A bit like Sven Ulreich, just take it with you, experience great football and then maybe be on the bench.”
Bayern Munich have an abundance of options in goal with Manuel Neuer under contract until June 2023, Ulreich, Christian Früchtl, and Alexander Nübel out on loan at AS Monaco.
Due to Nübel’s lack of playing time, he is likely to leave in the summer. Neuer, however, is expected to sign a contract extension on his current deal.
