Bayern are currently on a training camp in Qatar, which has given the most famous man playing in the country the opportunity to court one of their stars.

Xavi, who plays Al Sadd, says he wants Franck Ribéry to join him in the Gulf.

Asked about a potential move for Ribéry, Xavi said to Bild: “It would be great for everyone here. Also for Ribery,”

“The quality of life here is fantastic, it’s a great country, good for family life.

“Our daughter Asia, for example, was born in Doha. It is comfortable and everyone is happy.

Ribéry has been restricted to just six Bundesliga starts so far this season due to a combination of injury and age.

And while Bayern have said they are keen to discuss a new deal, the Frenchman could seek a move away to finish his career in a less demanding milieu.

And Xavi says that the Qatar Stars League can offer exactly that.

“Of course, the footballing level is different than in Europe,” he recognised. “But it would be nice for him to move here.”

“I would like to play with him. It would be nice if he will come to us.”
