Bayern Munich are ready to rival Barcelona for the signing of Bayer Leverkusen star Florian Wirtz, according to Mundo Deportivo.

Barcelona have been monitoring the progress of Wirtz for some time now, however, Bayern Munich are ready to make their move for the attacking midfielder as they have a specific plan for how they want to use him.

The Bundesliga champions are planning on making Wirtz the main part of their project and would like to pair the 20-year-old with fellow German wonderkid Jamal Musiala as the club wants to plan their future around these two players.

Musiala has even recently spoken about his partnership with Wirtz for the national team, saying: “I love playing with Flo. I always feel comfortable playing with Flo.”

Bayern Munich may have an advantage over Barcelona in the race for his signature as the Spanish side are currently not in the best financial situation. In addition, Wirtz has a long-term contract at Bayer Leverkusen which does not run out until 2027, meaning that he will cost a lot of money.

Leverkusen have not placed a release clause in his contract and are therefore likely to demand a high figure which could be €100m or even more.
