Germany put up emphatic performances over two legs to overcome Italy 5-4 on aggregate and book their tickets to the Nations League Semifinals on Sunday. This victory of Die Mannschaft was marked by the impressive displays from Bayern Munich players.

Joshua Kimmich

Donned the captain armband, Joshua Kimmich has shown why he is the worthy leader of a star-studded squad. San Siro or Signal Iduna Park, he was indubitably the best player on the pitch. All the goals Germany scored had the footprint of the architect wearing number 6. He delivered a pinpoint-accurate cross to Tim Kleindienst to level the score before finding Leon Goretzka from the corner to secure Germany a valuable advantage before returning home.

The same script happened again in the returning leg: Kimmich found Kleindienst for a header and assisted from a corner. Only this time he added a little bit of spice with a calm penalty against Donnarumma to add to his own tally. And trust, scoring a penalty against Donnarumma is no simple feat. Many have stepped up and failed to slot it home.

10/10 from Joshua Kimmich, per usual.
