Bayern Munich and Jens Scheuer have agreed to part ways as the Frauen Bundesliga season draws to a close. The head coach will leave at the end of June.

Scheuer took over Bayern’s women’s team in 2019, leading them to the league title and a Champions League semi-final in the 2020/21 season.

The league-winning campaign was their first after four successive titles for VfL Wolfsburg, who have reclaimed top spot this year.

“I wish Bayern all the best and am thankful for an exciting, intensive, and successful period together during my time as head coach of the women’s side,” Scheuer said in a statement released on the club’s website.

Bayern have finished as runners-up this season, as they did in 2020, and lost to Wolfsburg in a cup semi-final as well as suffering an extra-time exit in the Champions League quarter-final against PSG.
