Bayern Munich have appointed Alexander Straus as the club’s new women’s head coach.

The Norwegian led Sandviken TF/SK Brann to the first league title in their history in 2021 in his homeland, winning 17 of 18 matches as they ended the season unbeaten.

“I can hardly wait to begin my time in charge at Bayern and I’m looking forward to the start of training. As part of a club has big as Bayern it must always be the aim to win every competition we compete in,” Straus said.

“We have a team with very, very good players and I have a lot of respect for the work of the previous coach, Jens Scheuer, and his staff. I won’t be turning everything on its head, but try to develop the team further, step by step.

Straus succeeds Scheuer, who led Bayern to the Frauen-Bundesliga title in 2021.
