On Tuesday, the final day of the November international break, there were games for a number of Bayern Munich players. Let’s see how they all got on.
To begin, Kim-Min Jae and his South Korea side were in action away to Palestine in World Cup qualifying. After 12 minutes, an error from Kim gifted the hosts a lead, though Heung-Min Son was able to equalise just four minutes later. That would be the final goal of the game, and South Korea were held to a 1-1 draw.
As for the mistake from Kim, it is clear that he is playing too much football. It was mentioned a while ago that his minutes needed to be managed, and they clearly aren’t being, other than a couple of times he has been subbed off towards the end of games. Another 180 minutes in the legs, as well as 20,000+ miles travelled and several hours of jet lag.
Speaking of players that are playing too much, Joshua Kimmich was named in the starting XI for Germany’s dead rubber Nations League clash in Hungary. Leroy Sané and Serge Gnabry joined him in the XI. Jamal Musiala was at least given some deserved and needed rest.
On Saturday evening, Kimmich rolled his ankle and had to be withdrawn. He has already played nearly 2,000 minutes this season. There was absolutely no need for him to start this game. Bayern’s season is beginning to skate on thin ice. We have already seen João Palhinha and Aleksandar Pavlović suffer injuries that will see them miss key games. Imagine if Kim and Kimmich are added to that.
Fortunately, Nageslamnn did sub Kimmich off at half-time, though still an unnecessary 45 minutes. After an hour, Musiala replaced Chris Führich, whilst Gnabry was replaced by Florian Wirtz at the same time. With ten minutes left, Tim Kleindenst replaced Sané. The full-time result was 1-1.
Elsewhere, Mathys Tel played 78 minutes for France U-21s in a friendly against Germany, scoring a penalty in the second-half.
Finally, on Monday, Adam Aznou made his first start for the Morocco national team, playing 76 minutes as they demolished Lesotho 7-0 in an Africa Cup of Nations qualifier.
