An update on the ongoing efforts of German champions Bayern Munich to land Ronald Araújo from Barcelona this summer has today been provided.

And the latest info points towards the brass at the Allianz Arena giving consideration to an exchange proposal with their counterparts in Catalunya.

It is of course common knowledge at this point that Bayern have identified stopper Araújo as the club’s leading target to add to their defensive ranks with a view to next season.

As much comes with the Uruguayan international, despite an at-times hit-and-miss campaign to date, long considered one of world football’s very best in his role by the Bavarian giants.

To this point, Barcelona have shown little openness towards Araújo’s sale, however, throwing a spanner in the plans of the Bundesliga outfit.

As alluded to above, though, if the latest word stemming from the media is anything to go by, Bayern could yet move to tempt the Blaugrana, by offering up a player known to be in demand at the Camp Nou.

The individual in question? Joshua Kimmich.

Barca, of course, have long been tipped to launch an assault for Kimmich’s signature, having identified the German international as the missing piece from the club’s engine room puzzle.

German outlet Kicker, as cited by Diario AS, however, point towards a price-tag of €70-80 million as having been slapped on the head of the 29-year-old.

Such a sum, at this moment in time, is some way out of Barcelona’s financial reach.

It is therefore suggested that Bayern could use Kimmich as bait, to test the waters regarding a potential swap deal for Araújo.
