According to reports from Mundo Deportivo, Bayern Munich and Real Madrid are gearing up for a significant battle over the services of Florian Wirtz in the summer of 2025.

Wirtz, who is under contract with Bayer Leverkusen until 2027, along with his father and agent Hans-Joachim Wirtz, has already made it clear that he will remain with Xabi Alonso’s team for the upcoming 2024-25 season.

While It is suggested that Bayern Munich seem the logical choice for now, the summer of 2025 appears to be the opportune moment for him to move on. This also gives Real Madrid ample time to prepare a detailed report on his performance.

By then, Bayern will have positioned themselves well, working steadily towards his acquisition. On the other hand, Real Madrid are in the fray as well, hoping to entice him with the successes of compatriots Toni Kroos and Antonio Rudiger at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Real Madrid are still favourites

Real Madrid’s interest in Wirtz is no secret, despite recent quiet on the rumour mill. They are reportedly the frontrunners with a 65% chance of securing his signature.

The club has been methodically planning his acquisition for months, maintaining focus on their goal while remaining unperturbed by other clubs’ manoeuvres.

Real Madrid’s approach with Wirtz reflects their disciplined strategy in player recruitment. They remain firm despite media speculation, ensuring they operate within their limits and respect the player’s decision-making process.

Confident in their approach, Real Madrid believe they have effectively communicated their intentions to Wirtz. Now, it is up to the young German international to decide whether to join their ranks in 2025.

Lastly, it must also be noted that Barcelona, expected to have stabilized financially by 2025, might also make a play, leveraging factors like new coach Hansi Flick and established stars Marc-Andre ter Stegen and Ilkay Gundogan.
