According to the report, the German record champions have been scouring the market for defensive midfielders who could be available in the summer.

According to the report, there are already several interested parties from the Premier League for Onana. Bayern would be prepared to enter the race for the 22-year-old Belgian international should he become available.

Onana transfer would not be favourable for Bayern

According to the Telegraph, Onana, who still has a contract with Everton until 2027, would probably cost more than £60 million. That is the equivalent of around 70 million euros.

Fulham FC’s João Palhinha, who Bayern wanted to sign last summer, couldn’t be much cheaper in the upcoming transfer window. However, the Portuguese is already 28 years old. Onana, on the other hand, would still have the potential to increase his market value at the age of 22.

Palhinha had already travelled to Munich in the last summer transfer window, but his transfer fell through at the last minute because his club Fulham were unable to find a suitable successor. Coach Thomas Tuchel, in particular, was in favour of signing a holding six. Tuchel will leave the club after the current season, but Bayern are still looking to strengthen their midfield centre. This is despite the fact that home-grown Aleksandar Pavlovic made his breakthrough in the centre this season.

Another candidate for the centre of midfield is the Spaniard Martin Zubimendi from Real Sociedad.
