Bayern Munich assistant manager Dino Toppmöller has admitted he fancies another crack as a head coach in the future.
The 40-year-old, who has been in charge at Dudelange in Luxembourg and Belgian second-tier outfit Virton in the past, is currently filling in for Julian Nagelsmann.
The Bayern supremo has been in quarantine since testing positive for COVID-19, during which time Toppmöller has overseen consecutive 4-0 victories against Benfica and Hoffenheim.
Toppmöller arrived with Nagelsmann from RB Leipzig in the summer. And while he is in no rush to change job at the moment, the assistant does harbour ambitions of being in the hot seat again.
“It is my claim and my goal that at some point I would like to take over the main responsibility for a team,” he told kicker.
“As long as I enjoy working in the club and in the coaching team, there is no reason for me to think about other things.
“I feel right at home in my current role at FC Bayern, and that’s why there is currently no reason for me to want to change anything.”
It is likely there will be no shortage of suitors if and when Toppmöller decides to try his hand somewhere else.
