In a poll conducted by kicker (via @iMiaSanMia) Bundesliga players have nominated Bayer Leverkusen’s Florian Wirtz as the Bundesliga’s best player this season.

kicker annually holds a vote with Bundesliga players to determine different categories. This year 227 players took part in the anonymous voting.

When it comes to best player of the season, Florian Wirtz took 51.1% of the vote comfortably beating teammate Granit Xhaka with 7.5%. The other players that received votes were: Alejandro Grimaldo (6.2%) Sehrou Guirassy (5.3%) Jamal Musiala (4.4%), Deniz Undav (4.4%), Harry Kane (3.5%) and Xavi Simons (1.8%).

In a similar scenario, Xabi Alonso won the best coach of the season with 60.4% of the vote share. The rest of the coaches that received votes were: Sebastian Hoeneß (28.6%), Frank Schmidt (4.4%), and Christian Streich (2.2%).

Alexander Nübel was also voted the best goalkeeper of the year with 30% of the vote, proving why he deserved a call-up to the German national team for Euro 2024. The goalkeepers behind Nübel were, Gregor Kobel (22.9%), Lukas Hrádecký (10.1%), Oliver Baumann (7%) and Manuel Neuer (6.2%).

However, these awards are not solely positive with the categories such as most disappointing player and coach also voted for.

The most disappointing player was Werder Bremen’s Naby Keïta with 25.6% of the vote. Behind him were Niklas Süle (13.2%), Dayot Upamecano (9.3%), Leonardo Bonucci (5.3%), Leon Goretzka (4%), Kim Min-Jae (3.5%), Joshua Kimmich (3.5%) and Alphonso Davies (3.1%). With the majority of the players being Bayern Munich players shows that the Rekordmeister’s third-place finish was not good enough.

Finally, Nenad Bjelica led with way 18.1% of the vote for the most disappointing coach. Niko Kovač (16.7%), Thomas Tuchel (16.3%), Stefan Baumgart (12.8%) and Urs Fischer (11%) also received votes.
