Brentford Women fought hard to secure victory as they beat Barking Women 3-0 in the London and South East Premier Division on Sunday afternoon away from home.

Khyri McKenzie, Reagan Graver and Chelsie Berry scored the goals which secured victory against a gutsy home side.

There were a couple of changes made from the team that beat Newhaven last weekend. Carly Williams opted to give starts to Esme Alaneme and McKenzie as Habeebat Gbajabiamila and Ilana Harris-Walters would be options from the bench.

Brentford started in blistering fashion, blowing away their opponents with the first move of the game as a fine team move ended with Renai McCrea teeing up McKenzie who swept the ball into the net.

Evie Witek was called into action as the game settled following the early goal and the goalkeeper made a fine stop top to deny Shawn Harvey what looked like would be a certain goal.

Ashley Cheatley made a good run down the left-hand side of the pitch, racing away from the retreating Barking defenders but her eventual shot was saved by Darcie Salmons.

On 27 minutes, Carolin Engelhard’s effort from a corner flew just over the bar as the visitors began creating chances more frequently.

On 39 minutes though, Harvey beat Brentford's offside trap and as she took the ball round Witek, the goalkeeper had no choice but to foul her, conceding a penalty in the process.

Laura Bunton took the penalty, but smashed it wide.

In identical fashion to the first period, the west Londoners scored early to double their lead in the second period as Graver flicked a header towards goal which crossed the line despite attempted clearances away from the Barking defenders.

Cheatley had an opportunity to secure the three points soon after the second goal, as she struck an effort on target but Salmons denied her.

Second-half substitute Chelsie Berry slalomed her way through challenges before striking on goal but again the Barking goalkeeper was in the right place to stop the shot.

The second period was a classy showing from the away side as they limited the home team's opportunities whilst going close to adding to the lead on several occasions.

With the final action of the game, Berry scored Williams' side's third with a good finish from a tight angle.

The game would end with Brentford Women winning by three goals to nil as well as a third clean sheet from three games.

The Bees are next in action on Sunday 7 September as they take on Sutton United at home in a 3pm kick-off.
