Targeted by Newcastle for several weeks, Yoane Wissa is eager to join the Magpies. However, the Congolese international still hasn't received the green light from Brentford. The English club already feels weakened following Bryan Mbeumo's transfer to Manchester United. On the eve of the transfer window closing, Wissa has published a statement on his Instagram account. The Congolese forward is explicitly asking the club's management to accept his departure.

"I have remained silent for most of the summer, but with just a few hours left in the transfer window, I feel compelled to clearly express my desire to leave Brentford. I believe the club is unfairly blocking my exit despite a series of attractive offers. (...) Earlier this summer, I had discussions with the club's management. I made it clear that I wanted to pursue a new challenge. During those talks, both my representatives and I were assured that the club would not stand in my way if a reasonable offer came in. This agreement was also put in writing. Based on this, I actively sought a new club, keeping Brentford fully informed at every step. I have received an official offer from another Premier League club and have expressed my wish to join them. But as the transfer window draws to a close, the club has drastically changed its stance, going against what was promised. This has put me in a difficult and frustrating position. The promise to let me leave this summer has not been honored. (...) I remain hopeful that a fair and reasonable solution can be found before the window closes. (...) Being forced to stay beyond this summer will only tarnish four wonderful years at this incredible club, so I urge the owners and management of Brentford to now honor their promise and let me leave in these final hours of the window," wrote Yoane Wissa.
