The immediate plans of the powers that be at La Liga giants Barcelona for youngster Vitor Roque have on Sunday been confirmed once more.

The info comes courtesy of transfer insider Matteo Moretto, and reiterates that Roque, for the time being at least, will be going nowhere.

The subject of frontman Roque’s future of course took its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital in the months leading into the summer.

This came amid widespread confirmation that the Brazilian had been deemed surplus to requirements by ex-manager Xavi.

The understanding, in turn, was that Barcelona were set to seek out a swift exit for their January signing.

Xavi’s ensuing dismissal, and the appointment of Hansi Flick, however, threw the situation firmly back up in the air.

And, if the latest word stemming from the media this weekend is anything to go by, as much spells positive news for a player who remains desperate to prove himself in Blaugrana colours.

As per the aforementioned Matteo Moretto, speaking on Fabrizio Romano’s Daily Briefing, the plan at the Camp Nou is for Roque to take part in pre-season with the rest of Barca’s first-team squad.

Based on his performances, boss Hansi Flick will then decide directly whether or not the 19-year-old fits into his plans.
