A fresh suitor have positioned themselves in the running for the signature of Barcelona star Vitor Roque.
That’s according to Diario Sport, citing Italian sources, who point towards Lazio as the outfit in question.
The subject of frontman Roque’s future of course took its place front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital in the months leading into the summer.
This came amid widespread confirmation that the Brazilian had been deemed surplus to requirements by ex-manager Xavi.
The understanding, in turn, was that Barcelona were set to seek out a swift exit for their January signing.
Xavi’s ensuing dismissal, and the appointment of Hansi Flick, however, threw the situation firmly back up in the air.
Roque is now expected to be afforded a chance to prove himself in pre-season, eager to carve out a place for himself at the Camp Nou for next season.
Should the 19-year-old fail to do so, however, another leading European club will be lying in wait, ready to pounce.
As per the aforementioned Sport, citing La Repubblica, Serie A outfit Lazio have turned their attentions towards Roque.
After coming up short in their pursuit of Manchester United star Mason Greenwood, Biancocelesti president Claudio Lotito recently hinted that the capital club had an even better target in mind.
And, according to La Repubblica, this player is none other than Vitor Roque.
