La Liga giants Barcelona’s swoop for Athletic Club star Nico Williams has hit something of a snag.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who point towards as much as coming owing to a difference in opinion between the Camp Nou brass, and Nico’s entourage.
Barcelona of course found an agreement on the terms of a contract with the 22-year-old almost two weeks ago now.
But as revealed by MD:
‘As soon as that verbal agreement began to be put into documents, that is, the respective contracts, the negotiations came to a standstill due to the high demands of the forward’s agent, a complete surprise for Barça.’
Nico’s representative, it is claimed, is demanding guarantees when it comes to his client’s registration with La Liga for next season.
Barca’s issues in registering Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor this past season have not been forgotten, with the Spanish international having made clear to his team that he under no circumstances wants to be placed in the same position.
Deco and those behind the scenes in Catalunya’s capital consider the demands laid out as ‘unacceptable’ at present, giving rise to a ‘stalled’ negotiation.
