The board at La Liga giants Barcelona have over recent days become frustrated with leading transfer target Nico Williams and his team of representatives.
That’s according to Mundo Deportivo, who conifrm that as much comes owing to a new stance taken by the latter in negotiations between the parties.
Barcelona have of course long wrapped up a contract agreement with Athletic Club star Nico, over the terms of a deal through the summer of 2031.
The assumption, in turn, was that the Blaugrana now needed only to deposit the 22-year-old’s release clause with La Liga.
If the latest word stemming from the media early this week is anything to go by, however, then the operation no longer appears quite as straightforward.
As per a report from MD, talks between the Camp Nou brass and Nico’s entourage have ‘stalled’.
This comes after after the attacker demanded assurances of his registration for next season, to ensure that he does not face a similar situation to that endured by Dani Olmo and Pau Víctor in Catalunya’s capital this past season.
Deco and co, for their part, have verbally reiterated to Nico time and again that he has nothing to worry about.
But the Spanish international considers as much as ‘not enough’.
MD, in turn, conclude that:
‘This hasn’t gone down well with the club, which believes the tone has incomprehensibly risen in this regard compared to the initial conversations, in which the player showed complete confidence in the club.’
