Following a starring performance, though, Cancelo was taken off late in the game as he was dealing with some discomfort, which caused some concerns.

Cancelo okay to play vs Atletico Madrid

But in a big boost, Mundo Deportivo is reporting that Joao Cancelo is okay to play against Atletico Madrid in the upcoming weekend in La Liga.

The Portuguese international has been playing relentlessly and has hardly had any rest or respite. So, naturally, there were alarms raised upon Cancelo’s substitution in the 83rd minute when he was replaced by Alejandro Balde.

But, after speaking to the doctors it was confirmed that the substitution was only a precaution as he was a little overloaded and did not want to take any risks.

As such, Cancelo is expected to be fully fit and ready to play when Atletico Madrid visit Estadi Olimpic Lluis Companys on Sunday in a vital clash in La Liga.
