A highly-regarded member of the academy setup at La Liga giants Barcelona was on Saturday afforded a place in first-team training.
The player in question? Iker Rodriguez.
Rodriguez, for those not familiar with his name, is a 16-year-old goalkeeper, who has long been making a name for himself as a potential star in the making in Catalunya’s capital.
The Spaniard is currently plying his trade with Barcelona’s U18s.
And, evidently, his efforts across the season to date have proven sufficient to pique the attentions of Hansi Flick and his coaching staff.
This comes amid confirmation that Rodriguez again played his part in senior training alongside the Blaugrana’s star-studded squad on Saturday.
This marks the 2nd day in succession that the youngster was called up for first-team duties, ahead of Barca’s return to action on Sunday afternoon.
Fresh off a 2-2 draw with Atalanta in the Champions League in midweek, Flick’s troops will turn attentions back towards matters on the domestic front, in a La Liga meeting with Deportivo Alavés.
