Following Barcelona’s emphatic victory over Gimnàstic de Tarragona, one of the main protagonists of the victory, Alex Collado, had some strong words to say.

The 22-year-old said after the match that he has no intentions to stay at the B level any longer and that should he fail to receive a promotion, his eyes are set on a move away from the Estadi Johan Cruyff.

“I am going to work to the maximum to have minutes in the first team. I will not return to Barça B. The intention is to continue working and stay at Barça”, said Collado.

Collado was on the score-sheet in the 4-0 rattling at Estadi Johann Cruyff, and did not hold back his plans for the future. He dropped a huge hint, saying, “Nothing can be ruled out, but the intention is to be in the first team.”

Collado seemed determined about his own place in the team, but more than that, he commented on the inspired form of the group, saying:

“The team is very psyched, working hard. The first days are hard to get physical. The preparation stage is important, especially in the physical aspect, these games are important for us. The match is a test match, we are happy with the victory and the performance we gave.”

Collado has spent three years at Barca B level and achieved captaincy last season following the departure of Monchu Rodriguez. He has desperately waited for an opportunity to play for the first team and hopes he can make the breakthrough this summer.

Given the lack of options in the wider areas, due to the injuries of Ansu Fati and Ousmane Dembélé, the Captain will be hoping to impress Ronald Koeman in the coming weekend as Barcelona play host to Girona.
