Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivère has revealed that central defender Marlon Santos will leave the club midway through his two-year loan in France, as parent club Barcelona have received “a €20m offer”.
The 22-year-old is seen as one of the most promising youth talents at Camp Nou and has spent the past season playing with the Ligue 1 outfit, amassing 23 appearances in all competitions.
The Brazil Under-20 international has been linked to a number of suitors in recent weeks, but the Aiglons chief has revealed that Marlon will be leaving the Riviera as Barça are preparing to sell.
“Barcelona have received a €20m offer for Marlon,” Rivère told L’Equipe.
“He is therefore set to leave OGC Nice.”
Reports in several British newspapers, including The Guardian, claim that West Ham are the team who have lodged the bid, with new manager Manuel Pellegrini hoping to make Marlon his first signing.
