Lamine Yamal’s incredible 2024-25 season will go down in the history books as one of the most spectacular seasons ever by a teenager at the highest level.
Now still just 17 years of age, the Barcelona star is amongst the favourites to lift the Ballon d’Or and has grown alarmingly in recent months.
Such has been his growth that the team appeared heavily dependent on him towards the end of his campaign for his movements, dribbles and decisions were almost a cheat code against teams.
Yesterday, the teenage sensation signed his new Barcelona contract that will keep him at the club until 2031 and it was always clear that the player wished for nothing but staying in Catalonia.
As relayed by Mundo Deportivo in a recent update, however, Yamal has certain demands from the manager he hopes will be fulfilled next season that will help him keep growing and improving.

For starters, Yamal wishes to win more trophies with Barcelona and also on an individual level and for that, he asks not to be taken off at the tail end of games.
The 17-year-old feels that tired oppositions at the back end of the game will give him better chances to exploit and score or assist.
Further, he wants to take up more responsibility in set-pieces and wishes to be Barcelona’s preferred free-kick and penalty-taker – something currently contested for by Robert Lewandowski, Raphinha and Ferran Torres.
Given the rate at which Yamal is growing, it is hard to imagine a scenario where he does not become the team’s preferred set-piece taker. His first demand, however, will be more complicated to fulfil for it is Hansi Flick’s responsibility to rest him at times.
