Frenkie de Jong is currently one of the most highly valued players in this FC Barcelona squad. The Dutchman has been playing for the Catalan side for six years now, and is also one of the team’s captains.

However, he has not been able to train under Hansi Flick up to now because he is still recovering from an ankle injury that he suffered in the last season.

In the last few days, there have been conflicting news coming about the nature of his recovery, with some of these claiming that he will need surgery to get back to 100% fitness, while others claiming that he will be able to play without surgery in a few days.

The player himself has been preferring conservative treatment up to now, and does not want surgery. But the efficacy of this treatment method is raising doubts now, as he has not recovered in the last four months. He is still feeling pain and does not want to return to the field unless he is fully recovered.

However, Barcelona are not as patient as him, and want him to return to training as soon as possible. According to a report from Mundo Deportivo, the club has told Frenkie to play even if he is in pain, but the player wants to return only once he is 100%.

In such a situation, the Catalans are going to see how the matter develops in the coming 15 days. If Frenkie is still unable to play by the end of this time, they will recommend that he undergo surgery to find a permanent and radical remedy to his pain and can help the team at least in the second half of the season.
