With financial restrictions dictating their every move on the transfer market, Barcelona have been very careful and planned with all their operations so far.
Only Joan Garcia’s signing has been confirmed so far, and the club have placed the arrival of both Roony Bardghji and Nico Williams on hold until the beginning of next month. Meanwhile, the sales of Ansu Fati and Pablo Torre are yet to be announced.
Even on the renewal front, Joan Laporta and Co. have been extremely measured with a clear priority and list of players to be renewed in order. Eric Garcia, however, is one whose number is yet to come.
As relayed by AS in a recent report, Barcelona continue to be clear in their stance over Garcia’s situation in that they want him to stay at the club as a valuable backup. A contract renewal, thus, is on the cards.
A month ago, Deco communicated to the defender that Hansi Flick counted on him and that the club wished to extend his deal, especially with it running out in June 2026.

Barcelona, after all, do not want to risk any players leaving on a free transfer next summer.
The reason why his continuity has not yet been negotiated, however, is purely down to the administration having other priority operations in terms of signings and renewals.
Their stance, however, is unchanged and Garcia’s contract will be extended as soon as the Blaugrana return to the 1:1 rule next month.
After all, they are confident that it will not be complicated to reach an agreement with the defender.
Last season, the 24-year-old made 29 appearances for Barcelona in La Liga, scoring two goals and providing three assists in the process.
While he did not have a major role to play in the opening phase of the season, he rose as a backup centre-back and right-back at the tail end and finished the season as a regular starter.
