Germany’s hopes of securing the European Championship for the first time since 1996 were washed away when Die Mannschaft conceded a late winner from Mikel Merino – a goal that sealed Spain’s ticket to the semifinals.

Speaking to the press after the victory, Gundogan was visibly disappointed at the result. But while he was describing the defeat, the midfielder observed Ferran Torres passing by while offering him consolation after the defeat.

Gundogan’s burning question to Ferran

While Gundogan respectfully accepted the consolation offered by his clubmate, he did stop Ferran, who was on his way, asking, “How is Pedri?”

It appears the German international wanted to know about the extent of the knee injury the youngster suffered after a rough challenge by Toni Kroos.

Pedri had to be taken off in the eighth minute of the clash, sparking fears of another long-term injury.

Torres, known to be Pedri’s close friend within the Barcelona squad, shared a sombre expression with Gündogan when asked about the young Spaniard’s well-being.

“We’ll see tomorrow,” he answered.

Further medical evaluations are expected to determine the extent of the injury, but early indications suggest a recovery period of up to six weeks.

As Pedri begins his rehabilitation journey, Barcelona fans are eagerly awaiting updates on his recovery, hoping for a swift return to action for the talented midfielder.

The club, under the stewardship of new manager Hansi Flick, will adjust its preseason preparations as they plan for the summer without one of their key playmakers.

Although UEFA is expected to offer economic assistance for the injury of Pedri, it can never quite compensate for the absence of one of Barcelona’s main players.
