Barcelona to wait until August 12 for Euro 2024 star’s final decision | OneFootball

Barcelona have toiled for the signing of Nico Williams this summer, placing all other operations on hold for the young Spanish phenom. The winger, however, has not helped with his indecision.

Despite initially cutting an optimistic figure, the Athletic Club star is now contemplating another year at the club, sending Barcelona’s transfer strategy into disarray.

Deadline Set

While Nico is rumoured to be deciding his future, as it stands, he has not made any binding decision yet, but Barcelona still wish to try and fight until the very end.

As revealed in a recent report by Cadena SER, club sources confirm that the Blaugrana will wait until August 12th as an approximate date for the youngster’s final decision.

They hope Nico will respond to the offer by then or at least provide some clarity over his future. After all, the Catalans are awaiting his response before acting on numerous other vital operations.

Internal voices are not helping

As revealed earlier this week, Nico is being advised by his inner circle to stay at Athletic Club for one more season before securing a big move away.

After all, the player is in two minds about playing the UEFA Europa League with his brother Inaki Williams, especially with the finale set at San Mames.

Barcelona, however, dislike the idea of signing the star next summer as it would imply a significant rise in his release clause. At that sum, the club could well be out of the picture.

The coming days will be crucial in deciding Nico’s future. The train to sign for Barcelona, after all, arrives only once.
