Real Madrid forward Rodrygo has shared his thoughts on his relationship with Neymar, making it clear how much he values the connection they share both on and off the pitch.

Rodrygo mentioned that he frequently exchanges messages with Neymar, emphasising the bond they maintain despite not always being together physically.

Neymar, who has faced criticism at times for his personality, continues to have Rodrygo’s unwavering support.

The Real Madrid forward expressed his sadness when people speak negatively about Neymar. “It makes me sad when I see someone talking badly about him because of his personality,” he told ESPN Brazil.

He further highlighted how Neymar consistently sends him messages of encouragement, adding that he holds Neymar in the highest regard, not only for his footballing skills but also for the kind of person he is.

“I always exchange messages with Neymar, and now he’s back training with the group.

“He always sends me messages of support, I love him. In addition to being my idol as a player, he has shown as a person that he is a great person,” Rodrygo stated.

Rodrygo’s admiration for Neymar goes beyond just their personal interactions. As a footballer, Neymar is a huge figure in Brazilian football, someone younger players like Rodrygo look up to.

When asked about whether Brazil misses Neymar, Rodrygo was quick to respond, reaffirming the importance of the Paris Saint-Germain star to the national team. “Does Brazil miss Neymar? He is our idol and our best player,” Rodrygo affirmed.

Neymar’s influence on Brazil’s chances of success at international tournaments, like the World Cup, is undeniable. Rodrygo acknowledged that for Brazil to have a real chance of lifting the coveted trophy, Neymar needs to be at his best.

“To win the World Cup, everyone must be ready to help him. He is in good health, that is what we hope for,” Rodrygo said.

He also provided an update on Neymar’s current status, revealing that the forward is nearing the end of his recovery and should soon be fully fit again.

“He is in the final stage of his recovery. We all want him fit,” he concluded, highlighting how crucial Neymar’s presence is to the team’s aspirations.
