The series of renewals is expected to continue at FC Barcelona following the recent contract extensions of players like Gavi, Pedri, Ronald Araujo, Pau Cubarsi, and Gerard Martin.

The likes of Raphinha, Inigo Martinez, Jules Kounde, and Lamine Yamal are believed to be next in line to ink new deals with the Catalan heavyweights.

Joining that list soon, according to David Bernabeu of SPORT, could be veteran centre-forward Robert Lewandowski.

Barcelona want to renew Lewandowski until 2027

Lewandowski’s current contract with Barcelona runs until 2026, provided he plays at least 45 minutes or more in 55% of the official matches in the ongoing season. Given that he is on track to meet this requirement, his contract is effectively guaranteed.

It would secure the veteran superstar’s future at the club for next season but as per the report, Barcelona intend to tie him down for another year, until the summer of 2027.

The Blaugrana are of the firm belief that age has not affected his performance, with Lewandowski currently leading Kylian Mbappe in the La Liga Pichichi race with 19 goals from 22 games. Overall, the Pole has 31 goals and three assists in 33 matches.

The club’s sporting management believes that Lewandowski is the best option to lead the attack, especially given the lack of viable alternatives in the transfer market.

Strikers like Newcastle United’s Alexander Isak are priced too high, making the former Bayern Munich forward a more reliable choice.

Furthermore, such an extension would also allow Barcelona to spread Lewandowski’s wages over an additional season, improving financial flexibility and aiding their compliance with Financial Fair Play regulations.

Barcelona enjoy a strong relationship with Lewandowski and his representatives, making an agreement likely without major difficulties.

The new contract is likely to include performance-based bonuses and a mutual exit clause for the summer of 2026, allowing both the club and the player to reconsider their options at that time.
