La Liga giants Barcelona have on Monday been tipped to launch an assault on the signature of a leading member of the defensive ranks at Bayer Leverkusen.
The player in question? Jonathan Tah.
The name of defender Tah has taken its place front and centre in the media headlines in his native Germany throughout the summer to date.
This comes amid long-standing efforts on the part of Bayern Munich to lure the 28-year-old away from their Bundesliga rivals.
To date, no such agreement has been found, however, opening the door for rival suitors to enter the fray.
And, as alluded to above, on Monday, one such suitor has been highlighted in Spain.
As per a report from Diario Sport, the brass at the Camp Nou are on the lookout for potential replacements, in the case of Eric García coming to the decision to depart for Girona.
And Tah, who could be available for as little as €20 million ahead of the expiration of his Bayer contract next summer, is one such profile being taken under consideration.
Sport conclude that:
‘Standing at 1.95m tall, the ‘Mannschaft’ international is considered a market opportunity at Can Barça, as the sporting department believes that the 20 million that the player would cost is below what his price would be if his contract did not end in less than a year.’
