Barcelona made a determined effort to keep their young forward, Marc Guiu, as revealed by transfer market specialist Fabrizio Romano.

The journalist reports that the club offered Guiu a significantly improved salary and a higher release clause, presenting more than two proposals over the past few months to convince him to stay.

However, despite their best efforts, Guiu had already made up his mind to join Chelsea.

Reports indicate that the Premier League club activated his €6 million release clause and following a verbal agreement, the young forward is set to sign a contract with Chelsea that will keep him at the club until 2030.
