La Liga giants Barcelona have on Sunday wrapped up an agreement to sell a member of the club’s defensive ranks to the Premier League.
The player in question? Julián Araujo.
Right-back Araujo, for his part, has seen his name take its place front and centre in the media headlines in Catalunya’s capital for several days now.
This comes after word was forthcoming that a new suitor had emerged in the race for the Mexican’s signature.
After he was deemed surplus to requirements by new Barca head coach Hansi Flick, Premier League outfit Bournemouth quickly positioned themselves in the running, kickstarting negotiations with the Camp Nou brass.
The Cherries quickly made clear their readiness to cough up €10 million in any deal, terms which, evidently, proved agreeable to Deco and co.
In turn, on Sunday, the transfer has received the famed ‘here we go’ on the part of transfer insider Fabrizio Romano:
‘Julián Araújo to Bournemouth, here we go! All documents are ready as reported yesterday, finally sealed.’
Despite the hopes of Barcelona, the transfer will not feature either a buyback or sell-on clause, with Araújo primed to fly out to Dorset later today.
