The latest comments laid out by Barcelona starlet Lamine Yamal have piqued widespread attentions on Tuesday.

This comes after the explosive winger – still just 16 – fired something of a warning shot to arch rivals Real Madrid.

Barca, of course, are fresh off a fine stretch of form leading into the international break.

All told, dating back to late-January, and the announcement of head coach Xavi’s impending departure, the Blaugrana are unbeaten in ten outings across all competitions.

Not only that, but they have rattled off four wins from five in La Liga, the latest of which came in hugely impressive fashion at the expense of Atlético Madrid this past weekend.

Such endeavours have seen Barcelona leapfrog Girona into 2nd in the Spanish top-flight table.

Crucially, though, they have also seen the Catalans, just, stay within touching distance of arch rivals Real Madrid in top spot.

Carlo Ancelotti’s troops currently sit eight points clear of Barca, with nine games to play.

With the season’s final Clásico pencilled in for next month, and both sides still going strong in the Champions League, though, a twist could yet be in the tale.

And, as alluded to above, one headline member of Barcelona’s attacking ranks has this week moved to send a message of warning the way of his side’s title rivals.

Speaking in an interview with Marca on Monday, Lamine Yamal was drawn on the race for supremacy in La Liga.

And the prodigious talent went on to assure that, in the case of Real Madrid slipping up, ‘we will be there’:

“The La Liga fight with Real Madrid is hard, they don’t slip up in the slightest. But we will be there. If they slip up, let them know that we are next door, to cut all the points possible. We’re going to fight them.”
