Manchester United will target a striker after sealing the transfer of Bryan Mbeumo with three options shortlisted.

Mbeumo is set to be announced as the club’s second major signing of the summer, with a £71m deal agreed with Brentford for the winger. The Cameroonian will join Matheus Cunha as a new arrival at Old Trafford.

Next on the agenda for Ruben Amorim is a goalscorer. United were the second-lowest scorers of any Premier League team to survive relegation last season, with Rasmus Hojlund managing just four league goals.

RB Leipzig forward Benjamin Sesko is a name in the frame. The Slovenian saw a potential move to Arsenal break down earlier this summer and the Red Devils could capitalise.

United have a long-standing interest in the 22-year-old, who scored 21 goals in all competitions for the German side last season. An approach was made last summer, before Sesko snubbed a Premier League transfer to sign a new deal in Germany. He is valued at around €80m (£69m) including add-ons.

Transfer journalist Ben Jacobs has revealed that two Premier League options are also on the club’s shortlist. The Red Devils recruitment team are considering both Aston Villa striker Ollie Watkins and Chelsea’s Nicolas Jackson.

The latter’s future at Chelsea is in doubt following the signings of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro this summer. Chelsea are not actively looking to sell the Senegal international but will consider reasonable offers.
