Barcelona star Raphinha is set to be utilised in a new role by Brazil head coach Dorival for the country’s upcoming fixtures.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Wednesday provided an insight into the situation.
Wide-man Raphinha, for his part, is of course in the midst of what has proven a superb opening to the 2024/25 campaign.
Looking like a player reborn under the watch of new boss Hansi Flick, the former Leeds United man has dazzled both in a central role, and out wide on the left.
As much has given rise to a haul of 11 direct goal contributions across all competitions, by way of six goals, and five assists.
And, as alluded to above, such exploits look set to culminate in Raphinha being rewarded with a new, prominent role at international level this week.
As per the aforementioned Sport, the 27-year-old is expected to be shifted into the no.10 position in which he has shone for Barcelona this season in Brazil’s meeting with Chile in the early hours of Friday.
This tweak will result in Lucas Paquetá dropping into a deeper role at the base of midfield, and Bruno Guimarães dropping to the bench.
Should Raphinha go on to impress the Seleção coaching staff from his inside berth, he could then be fielded in the same spot against Peru next Wednesday, too.
