The recent game between the youth teams of Barcelona and Flamengo in Brazil produced a lot of magic. Clashing in the Intercontinental Cup final, it was a great occasion for young players to step up. On Barça’s side, there was one player who clearly stood out.
19-year-old winger Jan Virgili, consistently linked to an exit this summer, was arguably the one player from Barça’s side to light up the game by himself. Thanks to his sensational performance, the club might now be forced to reconsider his future.

According to Mundo Deportivo, his future is now considered a pressing matter and one that Barça might be forced to reconsider. While Hansi Flick reportedly believes that he is not yet ready for the first team, it seems clear enough that the Segunda RFEF is below his current level as well.
While originally the club wanted a transfer fee of around €4 million for him alongside a 50% claim on a future sale, it seems clear now that the figure in question might be too low for him. After all, he scored a sensational goal, mesmerised with his dribbling prowess, created various chances for his teammates, and still saw his side lose in the final.
With clubs such as RCD Mallorca and Almeria reportedly having sent in offers for him, the player’s future is something that Barça needs to address as soon as possible. At this point in time, until and unless the player decides to stay on his own accord, retaining his services could be difficult.
