A leading member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is expected to spend the bulk of the next month on the sidelines.
The player in question? Fermín López.
The name of attacking midfielder Fermín has of course positioned itself front and centre in the headlines in Catalunya’s capital across the day to date.
This comes after the Spanish Football Federation announced that the 21-year-old had been released from the country’s U21 squad.
Why? ‘A muscle injury that makes it impossible for him to play in the two matches the national team will play this September.’
Fermín, as a result, has since made his way back to Barcelona, ahead of undergoing incoming injury treatment under the watch of the Blaugrana’s medical team.
Just how long can head coach Hansi Flick expect to be without his midfield starlet, though?
As per a report from the reliable Toni Juanmartí of Diario Sport, a spell of three to four weeks:
‘As elchiringuitotv points out, Fermín has injured his quadriceps and will be out for 3-4 weeks.’
Como apunta @elchiringuitotv, Fermín se ha lesionado en el cuádriceps y estará 3-4 semanas de baja.–
