A leading member of the attacking ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona rejected a staggering financial offer from the Middle East over the summer.
That’s according to Diario AS, citing Cadena SER, who point towards Robert Lewandowski as the player in question.
The name of frontman Lewandowski, of course, took its place front and centre in the media headlines over the summer.
This came amid widespread speculation that the Polish international, owing to both his increasing years and considerable wage packet, could under the right circumstances be shipped off by the Camp Nou brass.
In the end, Lewandowski stayed put, with the 36-year-old having since enjoyed a fine start to the new campaign.
This, though, only comes after ‘Lewa’ made the call to reject a frankly eye-watering proposal from the Saudi Pro League.
As per the aforementioned Cadena SER, the one-time Bayern Munich standout was offered a contract worth €60 million-per-season by an unnamed Saudi club.
Lewandowski, however, showed little hesitation in reiterating that his chief objectives remain of a sporting nature, rather than monetary.
