Earlier in the summer, it was reported that Ansu Fati is destined to join AS Monaco to start a new chapter in his career.

However, the deal stalled due to various reasons, including Barcelona not being fully on board with the idea of simply just loaning out the forward.

The club wanted a permanent sale and did not even want to pay partial salary for Fati, whose package still ranks among the best in the team.

This played a key hindrance in the deal involving Fati to Monaco. But now, it appears that the deal is finally back on track.

Monaco make significant progress

According to Foot Mercato, AS Monaco have made significant progress in their bid to sign Ansu Fati this summer.

The French news outlet confirms that Monaco initially wanted a loan and had asked Barcelona to pay partial salary, whereas the Catalans wanted a permanent transfer.

But now, these clubs appear to have meted out their differences, with Barcelona notably softening their stance.

It seems the Catalans are ready to sanction a loan deal for Fati so that at least they won’t have to pay his full salary heading into the new season.

Barcelona had to soften their stance not only because of Monaco’s persistence. The forward simply failed to attract other suitors, making it difficult for the Blaugrana to take the edge in negotiations.

For now, everything suggests Fati will ply his trade for Monaco next season, though there are final details that need to be resolved before the two clubs can proceed with the transfer.
