Even beyond the Barcelona first team, the club is always looking to reinforce their youth sides as well. After all, many of the first team’s most influential youngsters have emerged from the club’s youth system itself. Fortunately for Barcelona, their scouting seems to be going smoothly.
Previously, it was reported that the Catalan club has developed an interest in venturing towards African talents as well. By devoting a bigger network and more scouts for the region, Barcelona has been linked to some promising talents from the region in recent times.
Not too long ago, players like Relebohile Mofokeng were being linked to Barcelona as well. Ultimately, it seems that the club is genuinely invested in recruiting African talents, and that continues to be the case with the club’s latest acquisition as well.
According to SPORT, Barcelona have now signed 18-year-old Ghanaian centre-back Hafiz Gariba. He is set to join the club with immediate effect and there is already a concrete plan regarding his progression and how his development will be addressed.
Initially, Barcelona plan to have the player participate primarily in the activities of the club’s Juvenil B team. From matches to trainings, they want him to be able to adapt to the club’s setting initially and remain involved with the side led by Pol Planes, and his experience moving forward will determine his progress.
Yet, even before that can happen, Barcelona reportedly has confidence in the player’s ability and there is a belief within the club that he will be representing Juliana Belletti’s Juvenil A side at some point as well. Either way, this is also a dream that the player himself has now managed to accomplish.
Even apart from Barcelona, there were reportedly other significant offers for the player as well. However, he dreamt of joining the Catalan giants and he has finally realized his dream it seems. Formerly a part of the Marcet Academy in Spain, Barça managed to win over his signing despite interest from other Spanish sides as well.
With some key youngsters currently leading and renewing their stay with the first-team, there is always room for more talents to join and hone their skills with the help of the Barcelona youth teams. After all, their development in those youth teams can lead them down a path where even first-team opportunities are no longer an impossibility.
