In a matter of hours, FC Barcelona have been forced to flip their transfer plans for the summer completely.
Having initially wanted to sign Liverpool winger Luis Diaz, they decided to pursue Nico Williams instead after the Athletic Club winger expressed his desire to join through his agent.
Just when it appeared like the transfer was on track, Nico ended up performing a shocking U-turn and signed a new contract with Athletic until 2035 with a bigger release clause of €95-100 million, leaving Barça stranded again.
Given the situation, Barcelona have been left with Luis Diaz and Marcus Rashford as the alternatives to reinforce the left flank.
And, according to Fabrizio Romano, the La Liga champions are planning to make a fresh approach for the Liverpool speedster in the coming days.

Mundo Deportivo also affirms that the Colombian international is now seen as Plan A by Barcelona, with Rashford being Plan B.
It must be noted that the Colombian international had been the Blaugrana director Deco’s preferred option initially before the entire Nico saga.
With the deal for the Spaniard collapsing, Barcelona will again make an approach for Diaz in the next weeks.
However, any move for the attacker will not be easy as Liverpool have already made it clear to both Barça and Bayern Munich that they do not want to sell Diaz.
Rashford remains an alternative and would be willing to join the club, but Manchester United are seeking a permanent sale, whereas Barça only want him on loan.
So, it will be interesting to see how the Catalans go about things as they begin their search for a new left-winger from scratch.
