According to SPORT, Barça has finalised the player’s renewal and will shortly announce it as well. Moreover, the club is now expected to give Bernal a new first-team jersey number as well, something that would solidify his place as a member of Flick’s squad.

However, the club will have to wait and see when the youngster’s registration as a first-team player can be made possible. Either way, irrespective of the time it takes, the club’s intention is to have Bernal be a regular member of the first team and thrive in those dynamics.

A cautious approach with his recovery

As for his recovery, the club continues to be cautious with him and is taking things one step at a time. Even though the player reportedly feels ready to make his return, Barça will likely not fully clear him until September, and it is expected that he will make his return against Valencia in the team’s first home game of the La Liga campaign.
