After weeks of speculation, Barcelona have made a giant step in their bid to sign Nico Williams this summer.
The Athletic club winger has become the club’s top target this summer, with Barcelona ready to go all out to sign the forward.
Earlier this week, it was reported that Barcelona are close to reaching personal terms with Nico, but the forward reportedly wanted multiple guarantees to be made.
Now, the front page of today’s edition of Mundo Deportivo suggests that Barcelona have finally reached an agreement with Nico Williams.
The report adds that Nico is set to sign a six-year deal at Camp Nou, most likely with a sky-high release clause.
Although the report suggests Barcelona are yet to agree to a release clause value, it won’t be surprising to see the figure reach up to a billion euros.

This is standard for all Barcelona stars, including the likes of Lamine Yamal, Pedri and others. One would expect Nico, too, to have a similar release clause.
An agreement also points to the fact that Barcelona have been able to ensure Nico’s registration, once he joins the club.
Now that personal terms are agreed, Barcelona now need to conjure up enough funds to meet Nico Williams’ €62 million release clause.
Barcelona cannot lower the asking price as Athletic Club have left no room for negotiations and will only sell the attacker if they meet his release clause.
Barça are reportedly looking to complete Nico’s capture by first two weeks of next month, with July 14 emerging as the deadline.
The coming few weeks, therefore, could be crucial as Barcelona look to make their second major signing of next season.
