After a difficult season with Thomas Tuchel, Bayern Munich are all set for a revamp in the coming summer, starting with the appointment of a new manager.

Everything points to Ralf Rangnick becoming the next coach of Bayern Munich and safe to say, the German mastermind will bring forth a host of changes to the squad this summer.

One of Rangnick’s main priorities will be to keep hold of the star players, which includes Joshua Kimmich. The midfielder is facing an uncertain future at Allianz Arena, with Barcelona among the clubs keeping close tabs on his situation at Bayern.

A big blow for Barcelona?

According to Sky Germany (h/t Diario SPORT), the appointment of Ralf Rangnick could greatly alter Barcelona’s operation to sign Kimmich.

That is because Kimmich views the Rangnick appointment quite favourably, knowing the German tactician will back him at Bayern next season.

Kimmich has not shied away from exploring opportunities away from Germany. But it was reported earlier that the midfielder was waiting for Bayern’s coaching appointment before taking a decision on his future.

And now with Rangnick ready to replace Tuchel next season, Kimmich might want to reconsider his future once again.

The report suggests Kimmich is a great admirer of Rangnick. The midfielder had even publicly stated his admiration for the former Manchester United coach, who is known to be a stickler for manners.

Given Rangnick’s tactical setup, he is almost destined to back a player like Kimmich, who is known for his versatility and aggression on the pitch.

Keeping that in mind, Barcelona might find it very difficult to convince Kimmich to step out of Bayern and try a new challenge in Catalonia next summer.

This is coupled with Barça’s balance-sheet shortcomings, which may ultimately lead to the club failing to bring in the German international.
