Spanish football’s two biggest clubs have this week been credited with an interest in the signature of Xavi Simons.
Simons, for his part, is currently in the midst of a fresh loan spell away from parent club Paris Saint-Germain.
As much comes after the French champions made clear that they could not guarantee the Dutch international a place in the club’s first-choice XI.
Simons, in turn, linked up with Bundesliga outfit RB Leipzig for the 2nd season in succession.
And this is a move which, if the latest murmurs stemming from the Red Bull Arena are anything to go by, Leipzig would be keen to make permanent next summer.
Safe to say, however, that they will not have it easy in efforts towards as much.
Amid the suggestion that PSG could sanction a sale owing to Simons’ refusal to commit to a new contract, The Athletic point towards five clubs as the young attacker’s ‘most probable destinations’.
The sides in question? Arsenal, Barcelona, Bayern Munich, Liverpool and Real Madrid.
