A member of the midfield ranks at La Liga giants Barcelona is attracting interest from Turkish heavyweights Besiktas with a view to the summer.
That’s according to Diario Sport, who have on Thursday provided an insight into the situation.
The player to have made his way back into the sights of the Besiktas brass comes in the form of Oriol Romeu.
The 32-year-old was hotly tipped for a move to Istanbul during the January transfer window, albeit with a transfer, evidently, having failed to come to fruition.
Continuing to toil in his search for regular first-team minutes in Barcelona’s midfield, though, a summer divorce between the parties is looking increasingly likely.
The Blaugrana are open to a sale, with Romeu, for his part, expected to seek an exit, too, ahead of falling ever further down the pecking order in the engine room ranks in Catalunya’s capital with a view to next season.
The aforementioned Besiktas, in turn, are eager to take advantage of the situation.
Two stumbling blocks, however, remain in the path of the capital outfit.
Firstly, it is noted that they are no longer willing to meet Barcelona’s January asking price of €3 million.
Not only that, but Romeu himself is keen to stay in his home country, amid ongoing interest in a reunion on the part of Barca’s La Liga rivals, Girona.
